East Harlem Man Miguel Jiraud Arrested in Manhattan for Attempted Murder
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK — Miguel Jiraud, a 30-year-old resident of East Harlem, was arrested in Manhattan on Friday and charged with attempted murder following a brutal attack on a woman found unconscious on a bike path on Randall’s Island.
According to the NYPD, Jiraud was tracked using his ankle monitor after he allegedly assaulted 44-year-old Diana Agudelo on May 16 around 11:30 p.m. Agudelo suffered a skull fracture and multiple facial fractures and was found unresponsive the next day. She remains in critical condition in a coma.
Jiraud, a convicted rapist released on parole in August 2024 after serving 12 years for a 2011 Bronx rape conviction, was taken into custody at the 25th Precinct. Police continue to investigate the case.
