Fatal St. Louis tornado-related death of Jerome Robinson – Obituary
Jerome Robinson was found deceased in his home located in the Academy – Sherman Park neighborhood following the devastating tornado that swept through St. Louis. His relatives suspect that the 68-year-old suffered a fatal heart attack during the severe weather event.
Audrey Robinson, his cousin, expressed her sorrow while standing on Kensington Avenue, sharing that Jerome was not only family but also a cherished brother figure. She described the emotional toll of losing another close loved one after so many prior family losses.
Just days before the tornado hit, Audrey had seen Jerome. When he couldn’t be located at a local Red Cross shelter, family members went to his residence on Saturday, where they discovered his body.
Audrey revealed that Jerome had been dealing with prostate cancer, and the two had supported each other through their respective battles with cancer. Though she survived breast cancer, she had hoped to see Jerome recover as well.
She remembered him as a generous and compassionate man, always ready to lend a hand. “He would’ve been out here helping rebuild,” she said. “If you needed water or tools, he was the one to call. He could fix anything.”
Jerome’s daughter, Erica Welch, shared her gratitude for the community’s support and expressed her heartbreak over her father’s passing. She described him as a devout, honorable man who deeply valued his family and inspired younger generations to read and grow.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether his death is officially storm-related. Meanwhile, his family is working on funeral arrangements and has begun a fundraiser to assist with costs.
