[Miami Beach, FL] Man Derrick Madison Arrested in Miami-Dade County for Attempted Murder

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Derrick Madison, a 48-year-old Miami resident and construction worker, was arrested in Miami-Dade County following a stabbing incident in Miami Beach’s entertainment district.

According to Miami Beach Police, Madison was taken into custody after a fight broke out around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd, along Ninth Street near Ocean Drive. Police say Madison stabbed a man in the chest, causing a punctured lung. The victim was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for emergency treatment.

Madison was charged with attempted second-degree murder, battery, and marijuana possession. He appeared in court on Friday, May 23rd, and is being held without bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Authorities continue investigating the incident using surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
