Fatal San Carlos Park house fire death of Michael McCarty – Obituary

Michael McCarty, a firefighter and EMT with the South Trail Fire Department, tragically lost his life in a house fire in San Carlos Park on Wednesday.

Authorities confirmed that McCarty’s remains were discovered within the ruins of the home, which is still under investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

McCarty had been serving with South Trail Fire since 2002 and also worked for the Upper Captiva Fire Department. His dedication to public service spanned more than two decades.

In a public statement, South Trail fire officials expressed their sorrow and took the opportunity to highlight the importance of mental health, particularly among first responders. They encouraged those struggling to seek help and urged peers to support one another during difficult times.
