Midvale, Utah Man Dustin Pearson Shot and Killed by Police in Salt Lake County During Robbery Response

 

MIDVALE, UTAH — Dustin Pearson, a 32-year-old resident of West Jordan, was shot and killed by police in Salt Lake County early Friday in connection with an alleged armed robbery.

 

According to the Unified Police Department, Pearson was encountered by officers near 165 W. 7200 South in Midvale around 2:20 a.m. while they were responding to a robbery report. Authorities say the incident occurred in the parking lot of a closed Sportsman’s Warehouse.

 

During the encounter, police say an altercation ensued, resulting in Pearson’s death. A knife was recovered at the scene, according to law enforcement.

 

Pearson’s death has triggered an officer-involved critical incident protocol, and the case is being investigated by the West Valley Police Department.
