Mpumalanga Man Simanga Custen Kamanga Arrested in Nkomazi for Brutal Murder of Children’s Mother

NKOMAZI, MPUMALANGA — Simanga Custen Kamanga, a 41-year-old resident of Mpumalanga, was arrested and remanded in custody at the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in connection with the brutal murder of his children’s mother, Nhloniphile Ntombi Maseko.

According to the Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the attack occurred on May 12, 2025, in Schoemansdal after a heated argument between Kamanga and Maseko. The suspect allegedly attacked Maseko with an axe, causing fatal injuries, and left her lifeless body in the street.

Kamanga appeared in court where his case was postponed to May 20, 2025, for a formal bail application. The suspect remains in custody facing murder charges.

Mpumalanga’s acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the violent act and urged the community to seek help for domestic issues rather than resort to violence, highlighting the ongoing threat of gender-based violence and femicide in the region.
