New Delhi, India Man Sushil Kumar and Wife Arrested in South Delhi for Murder of Alleged Lover
NEW DELHI, INDIA — Sushil Kumar, a 37-year-old resident of South Delhi, and his 24-year-old wife have been arrested in connection with the murder of Arun Mahto, a 32-year-old man from Patna, Bihar, who was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with Kumar’s wife.
According to the Delhi Police, Kumar lured Mahto to a forested area near Maidangarhi on May 18, where he bludgeoned him to death with an iron rod. Mahto had been reported missing by his brother on May 21, and his decomposed body was discovered the following day in the same area.
Authorities say the motive behind the crime stemmed from the discovery of missed calls from Mahto on the woman’s phone, prompting Kumar to confront his wife and plot the murder. She arranged the meeting, during which Kumar ambushed Mahto and carried out the attack.
The couple fled with the victim’s phone and cheque book, but were later identified through technical surveillance and CCTV footage. They confessed to the crime during interrogation, and police recovered the murder weapon and other evidence.
Both suspects are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
