New York City Man Miguel Jiraud Arrested in Manhattan for Attempted Murder of Woman on Randall’s Island
NEW YORK CITY, NY — Miguel Jiraud, a 30-year-old resident of New York City, was arrested in Manhattan and charged with attempted murder following the brutal beating of Diana Agudelo, a 44-year-old mother of two, on Randall’s Island.
According to the NYPD, Jiraud was taken into custody on Friday near the 25th Precinct after investigators used his ankle monitor to track his movements related to the May 16 attack. Agudelo was found unconscious on a bike path and remains in critical condition with multiple severe fractures, including skull and facial bones.
Jiraud, who is on parole after serving a 12-year prison sentence for a 2011 rape conviction, reportedly called 911 claiming to have found the victim. He denies involvement, stating, “the evidence is going to speak for itself.” He remains in custody as authorities continue their investigation.
Agudelo’s family has launched a GoFundMe to assist with her medical expenses, raising over $37,000 so far. The NYPD has increased the reward for information leading to further evidence in this case.
