[New York, NY] Man John Woeltz Arrested in Manhattan for Assault and Kidnapping

 

NEW YORK, NY — John Woeltz, a 37-year-old resident of New York City, was arrested in Manhattan in connection with the torture and unlawful imprisonment of a 28-year-old man.

 

According to the New York Police Department, Woeltz was taken into custody on Friday, May 23rd, after the victim escaped from a luxury apartment where he had been held captive and tortured for weeks. Authorities say the victim was subjected to severe abuse, including being tied up, electrocuted, pistol-whipped, and threatened with an electric chainsaw over access to his cryptocurrency wallet.

 

Woeltz was arrested at the scene and charged with assault, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment. He appeared in court on Saturday, May 24th, and was held without bail. A female suspect was also arrested, while another male suspect remains at large. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to interview witnesses and examine evidence found in the apartment.
