Fatal Bacalar hit-and-run death of Roberto “N” – Obituary

Roberto “N,” a local resident of Bacalar, lost his life Friday night after being struck by a tourist bus in the Limones area. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. and was initially reported by locals who alerted the National Guard.

Eyewitnesses say the bus driver stepped out to inspect the scene and, upon assuming the victim was dead, abandoned the vehicle and his passengers. The bus was reportedly part of a Riviera Maya tourism fleet.

Following the driver’s disappearance, passengers also exited the bus. It remains unclear how many individuals were on board at the time.

Authorities from the State Attorney General’s Office and National Guard responded to the scene, collected witness statements, and removed the victim’s body.

Officials have not disclosed the identity or current location of the bus driver. The bus company has yet to release a public statement regarding the incident.
