St. George, Utah Man Keith Dee Johnson Arrested for Attempted Murder in Caretaker Stabbing

ST. GEORGE, UTAH — Keith Dee Johnson, a 72-year-old resident of St. George, was arrested in connection with a violent stabbing that left a caretaker seriously injured early Saturday morning.

According to the St. George Police Department, Johnson was taken into custody around 2 a.m. after officers responded to reports of a commotion at an apartment on Shadow Point Drive. Authorities say a woman was found outside with significant blood loss, having suffered multiple stab wounds.

The victim, an employee of Chrysalis, a care provider for individuals with intellectual disabilities, told police she was attacked unprovoked by Johnson, her client. She was able to escape after disarming him and fled the scene, seeking help from neighbors.

Johnson was located shortly afterward in his apartment on Las Hurdes Drive, where officers observed blood on his clothing and face. He resisted arrest before being subdued and taken into custody.

Johnson was transported to Purgatory Correctional Facility and is currently facing charges of attempted murder and interfering with a peace officer. The caretaker underwent emergency surgery and is reportedly recovering.
