Tralee, Ireland Man Michael Kelley Arrested in Kenmare for Alleged Role in Murder of Farmer Michael Gaine
KENMARE, IRELAND — Michael Kelley, a self-described asylum seeker and farmworker from Tralee, was arrested in Kenmare in connection with the alleged murder of 56-year-old Irish farmer Michael Gaine.
According to Gardaí, Kelley was taken into custody earlier this week as part of an ongoing investigation into Gaine’s disappearance and the subsequent discovery of human remains on his Carrig East farm. Authorities say Gaine was last seen on March 20, and his dismembered remains were found last week in a slurry tank by neighbors.
Kelley, originally from Maine, USA, denied any involvement in the case and claimed he was framed by individuals involved in organized crime. He told reporters that while he had been arrested and questioned by Gardaí, he was released without charge and has not been formally accused.
Gardaí confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that the remains have been identified as belonging to Michael Gaine.
