Fatal Williamsport, Pennsylvania river drowning death of Tyler M. Lance – Obituary
Tyler M. Lance, 37, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, tragically died after jumping into the Susquehanna River on Saturday afternoon.
According to Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling, Lance was seen walking on the east side of the Hepburn Street Dam shortly before he jumped into the water for reasons that remain unclear. His body was recovered from the Susquehanna River between the dam and the Greevy Boat Launch by the Geisinger Life Flight crew, who were returning to their Montoursville base.
Emergency personnel from the Williamsport Bureau of Fire and Susquehanna Regional EMS rescued Lance from the water and began CPR. He was transported to UPMC Susquehanna Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead at 4:22 p.m. after resuscitation attempts failed.
The coroner’s office and Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this drowning.
