[Washington, DC] Man Brian Kelly Arrested in Northwest DC for Armed Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC — Brian Kelly, a 29-year-old resident of Washington, DC, was arrested in Northwest DC in connection with an armed robbery during a Facebook Marketplace item exchange.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Kelly was taken into custody on Wednesday, May 21st, after police and the U.S. Marshal’s Service identified him as the suspect in the January 27th robbery. Authorities say Kelly met with the victim around 4:30 p.m. on the 1000 block of I Street NW, where he brandished a firearm and took the item before fleeing.

Kelly was transported to a local detention facility and charged with armed robbery. Police remind residents to use designated Safe Exchange Zones for online transactions to help prevent similar crimes.
