Fatal Southeast DC shooting death of Anthony White – Obituary

Anthony White, 31, tragically lost his life after being shot on May 5, 2024, in Southeast Washington, DC. The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the arrest of 17-year-old Damari Thomas, also from Southeast DC, who was taken into custody on May 22, 2025, and charged with second-degree murder while armed.

 

The incident occurred around 7:41 p.m. near the 3500 block of Stanton Road, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. Two men suffering gunshot wounds arrived at a local hospital, but despite emergency efforts, White died from his injuries. The other victim sustained non-life-threatening wounds.

 

Following an arrest warrant issued by DC Superior Court, Damari Thomas was charged as an adult in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the police tip line. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides in the District.
