Fatal Morgan County car crash death of Jesse Davidsmeyer – Obituary
Jesse Davidsmeyer, a senior at Pittsfield High School, was tragically killed in a two-vehicle accident on May 24 in Morgan County, Illinois. The collision occurred around 2 p.m. at the junction of U.S. Highway 67 and Woodson Winchester Road, near the town of Woodson.
Jesse was riding in a vehicle involved in the crash, which also claimed the life of another Pittsfield student, junior Joel Noble. According to Morgan County Coroner Marcy Patterson, both students were pronounced dead following the collision.
The Pikeland School District, where Jesse was a well-known and admired student, is devastated by the loss. Superintendent Todd Fox expressed the collective heartbreak felt throughout the community, stating that staff, students, and families are overwhelmed with grief.
In Jesse’s honor, the district canceled its planned baccalaureate ceremony and scheduled a community prayer gathering at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on the high school football field. Counseling and mental health resources have been made available to those affected by the tragedy.
Illinois State Police reported that four other individuals were injured in the crash, with two airlifted to regional medical facilities for treatment. U.S. Highway 67 remained closed for about six hours as authorities responded to the scene and conducted an investigation.
Jesse’s passing marks the second fatal incident this year involving Pittsfield High School students, following the February death of freshman Reese Ramsey in a separate vehicle crash.
