Levon J. Quinn, 30, was killed Friday afternoon after being shot outside a smoke shop in Kansas City, Missouri, and subsequently crashing his vehicle while fleeing the scene.
The Kansas City Police Department reported that the shooting began following an argument between Quinn and another man inside a smoke shop located at 40th Street and Broadway Boulevard. The dispute continued outside, where Quinn was shot. He then drove his SUV away but lost control, veering off the road near Mill Creek Park.
Officers initially responded to a call about a car crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle at Westport Road and Broadway. The motorcyclist was a witness to the shooting and guided police to the exact location of the gunfire, about a block north of the crash site.
Quinn managed to drive about three blocks before crashing his SUV into a hill near 43rd Street and Mill Creek Parkway, where he was found fatally wounded. Surveillance footage and witness accounts are helping police as they continue their investigation. A suspect was identified and taken into custody later that evening.
Police highlighted that in 2024, arguments were the leading cause of homicides in Kansas City, contributing to many avoidable deaths. In 2025, domestic violence has been the primary factor behind homicides in the city. Authorities remain committed to addressing these issues and preventing further violence.
