Fatal Dickinson County car crash death of Peggy Ann Sutton – Obituary

Peggy Ann Sutton, 71, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, was among the four people who died in a tragic head-on collision Saturday afternoon in Dickinson County, Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Kansas Highway 4, approximately four miles west of Kansas Highway 15. Peggy was a passenger in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra being driven eastbound by 30-year-old Dawn Rae Peel of Herington. The vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and struck a 2025 Chevy Traverse head-on.

Peggy Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene, along with Peel and an 8-year-old boy who was also in the Hyundai. Denise Renee Henely, 57, a passenger in the Chevy Traverse, was also killed in the crash. All four victims were taken to Martin Becker Carlson Funeral Home.

Two boys—an 8-year-old from the Elantra and a 14-year-old from the Traverse—were seriously injured and taken to Wesley Medical Center. The driver of the Traverse, 23-year-old Adam Gerhart Henely of Salina, and another passenger were not transported for treatment.

Authorities confirmed that everyone in both vehicles had been properly restrained. The sudden loss of Peggy Sutton has brought sorrow to both her Oklahoma community and those connected to the crash.
