Fatal Cabell County car crash death of Stephen Green – Obituary

Deputies report that an early-morning collision on the eastbound side of Interstate 64 in Cabell County resulted in the death of 20-year-old Stephen Green of Ashland, Kentucky, and left two other people injured.

Investigators say Green had pulled his vehicle onto the shoulder near mile marker 31, close to Milton, around 5:55 a.m. after suffering a flat tire. A nearby construction worker stopped to help and had just taken a seat in the passenger side of Green’s car when a pickup truck struck the rear of the disabled vehicle.

The impact fatally injured Green. Both the Good Samaritan construction worker and the pickup’s driver were transported to a local hospital; their conditions have not yet been released.

Emergency crews shut down the eastbound lanes while clearing the wreckage and conducting an on-scene investigation, causing significant traffic delays for several hours. Authorities have not announced whether any charges will be filed as the crash remains under review.
