Fatal McMinnville pedestrian crash death of Audra Ackerman – Obituary

Audra Ackerman, 46, of McMinnville, tragically lost her life Friday evening after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing a street with her dog.

The McMinnville Police Department reported the incident occurred at 5:34 p.m. on May 24 at the intersection of Southwest Old Sheridan Road and Southwest Cypress Lane. Ackerman was crossing northbound with her dog when they were hit by a white Ford F250 towing a landscaping trailer, driven westbound by 68-year-old Jose Huerta, also of McMinnville.

Both Ackerman and her dog were pronounced dead at the scene. Huerta remained on site and cooperated fully with investigators. The driver and his two passengers were unharmed.

Authorities confirmed no evidence of intoxication or speeding contributed to the crash, describing the collision as a tragic accident. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation, which involved multiple local agencies.

The McMinnville Police Department extended condolences to Ackerman’s family and urged both pedestrians and drivers to exercise heightened caution, especially with increased pedestrian activity and sun glare during evening hours as summer approaches.
