Fatal Amarillo, Texas DUI crash death of Brandon Waugh – Obituary
Brandon Waugh, 34, of Amarillo, was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle in a suspected DUI incident on South Coulter Street.
The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. on May 18, when a white Buick Enclave traveling southbound veered off the road in the 2100 block of Coulter and hit Waugh. The vehicle continued moving until it came to a stop in a gravel driveway in the 2000 block.
Emergency personnel pronounced Waugh dead at the scene. Justice of the Peace Robert Taylor ordered an autopsy to be conducted.
The driver, 35-year-old Brett Hudson, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. He faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
Authorities believe that both speed and drug use played roles in the deadly crash. The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
