Fatal New Brunswick, New Jersey hit-and-run death of Elvia Gavarrete – Obituary

Elvia Gavarrete, a 48-year-old resident of New Brunswick, was killed Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of Lee Street and Suydam Street.

 

Authorities responded to the scene around 10:41 p.m. and found Gavarrete with critical injuries. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead due to the severity of her condition.

 

Juan Martinez-Gaspar, 41, of North Brunswick, has been charged in connection with the fatal crash. He is accused of leaving the scene after hitting Gavarrete. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the charges following the investigation.

 

Police continue to gather information related to the crash and urge anyone with details to come forward. The tragic event has sparked renewed concern over pedestrian safety and the dangers of reckless driving.
