Kaydance Ford dies in fatal Walkerton car crash

Fatal Walkerton car crash death of Kaydance Ford – Obituary

Kaydance Ford, a student at Walkerton District Community School, was among five people who lost their lives in a tragic collision on May 23, 2025, near Walkerton, Ontario. She was a passenger in an SUV with three fellow students and their teacher, Matt Eckert, when the vehicle crashed into a tractor trailer at the intersection of Cobble Hills Road and Thorndale Road.

The group had been returning from a school softball tournament held in Dorchester when the deadly accident occurred. All five occupants of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.

Kaydance is remembered by friends and family for her bright personality, compassion, and involvement in school activities. Her passing, along with those of Olivia Rourke, Rowan McLeod, Danica Baker, and their teacher Mr. Eckert, has left a deep void in the Walkerton community.

A vigil in memory of the victims will take place at dusk on Sunday at their school. Residents are also being encouraged to place sneakers outside their homes in a show of tribute to Kaydance and the others who were tragically killed.
