O Ny Zar dies in fatal Fremont, Ohio train crash

Fatal Fremont, Ohio train crash death of O Ny Zar – Obituary

O Ny Zar, 34, was one of three family members tragically killed when a train struck them on a railway bridge in Fremont, Ohio, on Sunday night. The crash also claimed the lives of 50-year-old Ram Masan and 5-year-old Intisar Mi, while a 14-month-old child, Arti Kar, was critically injured.

The group, a family from Fort Wayne, Indiana, had traveled to Fremont to fish along the Sandusky River, a popular spring destination for white bass fishing. Around 7:30 p.m., as they were on the elevated railway bridge about 40 feet above the river, a train fatally hit Ms. Zar and Ms. Masan. Officials have not confirmed whether the children were struck or if they fell from the bridge during the chaos.

Emergency responders rushed the toddler to a hospital in Toledo, and a search was launched for the missing 5-year-old, whose body was recovered from the river the following day.

Fremont Mayor Daniel R. Sanchez stated the bridge was clearly designated for trains only and not open to pedestrian use. He described the event as a heartbreaking end to what began as a family’s routine fishing trip.

David Tucker III, who was fishing nearby, witnessed the incident and called 911 after seeing several people fall from the bridge as the train approached. His father, David Tucker Jr., described hearing the train braking and seeing people in distress from his home.

Authorities have not yet identified the train line involved in the deadly collision.
