Fatal Fremont, Ohio train crash death of Ram Masan – Obituary
Three members of a family from Fort Wayne, Indiana, including Ram Masan, 50, lost their lives on Sunday evening when a train struck them on a railway bridge in Fremont, Ohio. The crash also left a 14-month-old child critically injured.
Authorities confirmed that the victims were Ram Masan, O Ny Zar, 34, and Intisar Mi, 5. The surviving toddler, identified as Arti Kar, was transported to a Toledo hospital for emergency care.
Fremont officials stated the family had traveled to the Sandusky River, known for springtime white bass fishing. Around 7:30 p.m., as they were on the railway bridge that spans 40 feet above the river, a train hit Ms. Masan and Ms. Zar. It remains uncertain whether the children were struck by the train or fell during the incident.
Following the crash, emergency teams launched a search and recovered the 5-year-old’s body from the river on Monday. The bridge where the tragedy occurred is marked as off-limits to pedestrians, as it is intended solely for train traffic.
David Tucker III, who was fishing nearby, described hearing the train horn multiple times before seeing several individuals plunge into the river from the bridge. He called 911 at 7:25 p.m. after witnessing the incident. His father, David Tucker Jr., also heard the train’s horn and described a scene of panic from his home.
Local authorities have not yet confirmed which train company was operating the train involved in the incident.
