Fatal Landrum, South Carolina pedestrian crash death of Willie Jernell Keaton – Obituary

Willie Jernell Keaton, 80, of Riegelwood, North Carolina, lost his life late Thursday night after being struck by a tractor-trailer while crossing eastbound lanes of Interstate 26 near mile marker one in Landrum, South Carolina.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 11:50 p.m., and although the truck driver was unharmed, Keaton was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:19 a.m. The incident marks the third pedestrian crash reported on I-26 in the past week.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer has not been identified at this time.
