Fatal Kansas City shooting death of Zackery Matthews – Obituary

Zackery Matthews, 25, lost his life after being shot in Kansas City on May 17. Police were called to the intersection of 73rd Street and South Benton Avenue shortly after 4 p.m., where officers discovered Matthews suffering from gunshot wounds outside a residence.

Emergency medical personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries two days later on May 19. Authorities have classified the incident as a homicide and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The initial inquiry revealed that Matthews had an interaction with an unidentified suspect in front of the home, which escalated and resulted in the shooting.
