Fatal Ashtabula County plane crash death of Alan Kettunen – Obituary

Alan Kettunen, 75, of Geneva, Ohio, lost his life in a plane crash on Sunday morning in Ashtabula County. The aircraft, an experimental homebuilt Griggs (Zenith) 701, took off from Germack Airport in Geneva but crashed shortly after departure near State Route 307 in Harpersfield Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Kettunen was killed in the crash, while 59-year-old Jeffrey Roth of Madison sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Preliminary findings indicate the plane struck a tree before crashing.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
