Firdaus Alam, a 24-year-old Muslim man and newlywed of six months, lost his life following a violent incident related to his religious attire in Panipat, Haryana.
The attack took place on Saturday, May 24, near Sanoli Chowk, while Firdaus was on his way back from visiting friends. According to reports, a man identified as Narendra, also known as Shishu Lala, allegedly confronted Firdaus, forcefully removed his skullcap, and threw it aside.
Firdaus silently retrieved his cap and placed it back on his head. Narendra, however, repeated the act. When Firdaus bent down to pick it up a second time, Narendra allegedly struck him on the head.
The blow caused Firdaus to collapse immediately. Bystanders rushed him to a hospital in Rohtak, but the injuries were critical, and he passed away the next day.
An FIR has been registered, and authorities are investigating the matter.
Locals mourned his loss, describing Firdaus as a peaceful individual who kept to himself. “He didn’t have conflicts with anyone. He was targeted solely because of his faith,†said a resident.
