Gili Brown, 58, has been identified as the person who died in a house fire over the weekend in Pittsfield, Maine. She was a resident of the home located at 111 Cardinal Street.

Emergency responders were called to the scene just before 4 p.m. on Sunday. After putting out the flames, firefighters discovered Brown deceased inside the home, according to a joint statement from the Pittsfield police and fire departments.

Authorities say an autopsy was conducted by the chief medical examiner to confirm Brown’s identity.

The state fire marshal’s office investigated the incident and determined that the fire was sparked by an overloaded power strip.

No one else was injured in the blaze. It remains unclear whether the home had working smoke detectors at the time.
