Gregory Bernard White, a 56-year-old man from Beaumont, Texas, lost his life Sunday morning in a fiery crash on Interstate 10, just minutes after fleeing the scene of a separate collision, according to local authorities.

The initial incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. near Washington Boulevard and 11th Street, where police say White was involved in a hit-and-run.

Roughly ten minutes later, around 8:40 a.m., the same vehicle crashed in the 800 block of Interstate 10 East. Emergency responders arrived to find the car engulfed in flames.

Two individuals were inside at the time of the crash. White, who was driving, was killed, while the passenger was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Authorities confirmed White’s identity on Monday morning.

The investigation remains open as police continue to examine both the initial hit-and-run and the fatal crash. More details will be shared as they become available.
