Fatal Dartmouth car crash death of Jeffrey and Diane Moniz – Obituary

Jeffrey Moniz and Diane Moniz, both 76 years old and residents of Westport, Massachusetts, were killed in a head-on collision Sunday morning in Dartmouth, authorities confirmed.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the deadly accident happened just after 10:30 a.m. near 422 Old Westport Road. Emergency responders arrived to find a gray Toyota Rav4 and a green Toyota Echo involved in the crash. The Monizes were in the Echo and suffered severe injuries.

Both Jeffrey and Diane Moniz were rushed to a nearby hospital but were pronounced dead upon arrival.

Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the driver of the Rav4, 63-year-old Philip Morris of Dartmouth, veered over the double yellow line and collided directly with the Moniz couple’s vehicle.

Morris received only minor injuries and now faces charges including two counts of motor vehicle homicide due to negligent operation, along with a violation for crossing marked lanes. He will be summoned to court at a later date.

Investigators have not yet released further details regarding the cause of Morris’s lane departure. The case remains under active investigation.
