Fatal Northwest DC shooting death of Jose Carcamo – Obituary

Jose Carcamo, 59, of Northwest Washington, DC, was killed in a shooting on Sunday evening, May 25, 2025, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers with the Fourth District responded around 6:11 p.m. to a report of gunfire in the 1500 block of Ogden Street NW. Inside an apartment, they discovered Carcamo unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS attempted lifesaving procedures, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities determined the gunfire originated in an alley behind the building, and a stray bullet struck the apartment window, fatally hitting Carcamo. Investigators do not believe he was the intended target.

The case remains open, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.
