Keston “Gollum†Guerra, a 33-year-old man from Malick, was shot and killed early Monday morning in Barataria after armed attackers opened fire on his vehicle. Guerra was driving east on Second Street around 7:30 a.m. when gunmen pulled alongside his green Nissan Tiida and unleashed a barrage of bullets. Losing control, his car crashed into a lamppost at the corner of Third Avenue and Second Street. The assailants then fired additional shots through the windshield before fleeing the scene.
Police arriving at the scene found Guerra slumped over in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. Despite initially showing signs of life, he died at about 7:45 a.m. Investigators recovered 24 spent 9mm shells and four live rounds nearby. Authorities have not yet disclosed any details about suspects or motives, and the investigation remains ongoing. Family members who came to the scene were too grief-stricken to comment.
