Fatal Colebrook, New Hampshire car crash death of Kevin Lyons – Obituary

Kevin Lyons, a 7-year-old boy from Colebrook, New Hampshire, lost his life on Tuesday after being struck by a truck on Route 3. According to authorities, the child darted into the roadway from behind a parked vehicle near the Rite Aid pharmacy and was hit by an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The truck involved in the accident was a 1998 Mack operated by 51-year-old Robert M. Chevarie of Berlin, New Hampshire. The vehicle belonged to the New Hampshire Technical College in Berlin and was being driven as part of a training session. A course instructor was reportedly present in the truck at the time of the collision.

Reports from the Union Leader in Manchester indicate the vehicle Kevin ran out from behind had just been parked by his father, Ron Lyons. Tragically, Kevin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Jimmy W. Crossley noted that Chevarie held a commercial driver’s license and was enrolled in a training course at the time. While the incident remains under investigation, early statements suggest that criminal charges are not expected.
