Fatal Summit County Memorial Day parade death of Matthew Schultz – Obituary

Matthew Schultz, a 13-year-old boy from North Canton, tragically lost his life on May 26 while taking part in the Green Memorial Day parade. Matthew was riding on a trailer pulled by a pickup truck when he fell off the front around 11:23 a.m. and was struck by the vehicle’s wheels. Emergency responders from the Green Fire Department, already present for the event, quickly transported him to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after at 12:04 p.m. Matthew was a seventh grader enrolled in North Canton City Schools. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Summit Metro Crash team are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
