Fatal Anderson County murder-suicide death of Nathan Orlando Cureton – Obituary
Nathan Orlando Cureton, 38, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on May 24 during a murder-suicide incident on Interstate 85 near Piedmont.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office confirmed Cureton shot himself after fatally shooting 24-year-old Tayler Gennalee Maraj, who was found with a gunshot wound to the head inside a vehicle at mile marker 39. According to reports, Cureton kidnapped Maraj in Mauldin before driving on I-85, where the shooting occurred.
The coroner ruled Cureton’s death as suicide and Maraj’s as homicide. Cureton had prior charges related to kidnapping and domestic violence from February in Greenville County. Authorities from the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, and Mauldin Police Department continue investigating the case.
