Olorato Mongale dies in fatal Johannesburg shooting

Fatal Johannesburg shooting death of Olorato Mongale – Obituary

Olorato Mongale, aged 30, was tragically killed after going on a date with a man who later became her alleged murderer. The suspect, who calls himself John, was driving a white Volkswagen Polo equipped with a cloned number plate LT 57 JG GP, which actually belongs to a Toyota Hilux. Mongale was picked up from her residential complex in Atholl, Johannesburg, at about 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The man drove with her through Alexandra and then toward Kew. It was between Alexandra and Lombardy West that he is accused of killing her and abandoning her body. Some of Mongale’s belongings, including her phone and handbag, were found discarded on 9th Road in Kew.

Her body was discovered around 4:50 p.m. on Monday in Lombardy West by police and community members. Authorities are investigating whether John was accompanied by another man when the murder occurred. Police have issued warnings to women to be cautious and to watch for the white VW Polo as part of ongoing efforts to address gender-based violence and femicide in the area.
