Fatal Plymouth, Illinois ATV-train crash death of Aaron R. Atkins – Obituary

Aaron R. Atkins, a 41-year-old resident of Plymouth, Illinois, lost his life Monday evening after a tragic collision between his ATV and a train.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 6:20 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck by a train near Plymouth. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that Atkins had attempted to cross the railroad tracks on his ATV but became stuck.

In efforts to free the vehicle, Atkins and his dog were both struck by a northbound Amtrak train, resulting in their deaths at the scene.

The sheriff’s office expressed condolences to Atkins’ family and friends, acknowledging the deep sorrow caused by this heartbreaking accident.
