Fatal Ingleside, Texas shooting death of Albert Florencio Howie – Obituary

Albert Florencio Howie, 54, was fatally shot on Monday morning in Ingleside, Texas, in what authorities suspect may have stemmed from a romantic dispute involving three individuals.

Police responded to the incident on Capehart Circle after reports of gunfire. Howie, a local resident and longtime paramedic, was found deceased at the scene. Officers later located the alleged shooter, 29-year-old Ashley Nicole Transmeier, in a separate area of Ingleside during a welfare check. She was found in a vehicle, unresponsive due to suspected drug use.

Authorities detained Transmeier shortly thereafter. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and, upon receiving medical clearance, was charged with first-degree murder. She is currently in police custody awaiting formal booking, according to San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera.

Investigators retrieved what may be the weapon used in the killing. Preliminary evidence suggests the shooting may have been driven by a love triangle involving Howie, Transmeier, and another family member.

Transmeier, an officer with the Corpus Christi Independent School District Police Department, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave. The district has been informed of her arrest.

Albert Howie dedicated his career to emergency medical services, working for agencies such as Aransas County EMS, Tri-County EMS, and Port Aransas EMS. He also gave his time as a volunteer with the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, where he was deeply respected for his service to the community.
