Fatal Mississippi shooting death of Alex Foster – Obituary
Alex Foster, an 18-year-old redshirt freshman defensive lineman for Baylor football, lost his life during a visit to his home state of Mississippi. The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson reported that Foster was shot multiple times while sitting in a vehicle in the 1800 block of East Alexander Street near North Colorado Street on Wednesday. Emergency responders found him at the scene and transported him to Delta Health Center, where he passed away about 35 minutes later.
Baylor’s Vice President and Director of Athletics, Mack B. Rhoades, expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss of Foster, calling him a cherished member of the football program and offering condolences to his family and friends. Head coach Dave Aranda also shared a message of heartbreak and extended prayers to those close to Foster.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 292 pounds, Foster was a standout player from St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison, Mississippi. A three-star recruit from the 2024 class, he redshirted his first year but was anticipated to contribute to the Bears’ 2025 season.
The community and Baylor family continue to mourn the unexpected passing of this promising young athlete.
