Anthony Emilio Arce lost his life following a tragic hit-and-run accident on U.S. 1 in Coral Gables. The crash occurred just after 11:15 p.m. on Friday, when David Rafael Aleman, 39, from southwest Miami-Dade, attempted a left turn onto Madruga Court and collided with Arce, who was riding a motorcycle. After the collision, Aleman fled the scene in his Kia Sorento, leaving Arce critically injured.
Emergency responders rushed Arce to Jackson South Medical Center, where he was declared dead shortly before midnight. Coral Gables police, working alongside Miami-Dade deputies, identified Aleman as the suspect and arrested him at his residence in the West Kendall area on Tuesday evening. During questioning, Aleman made two admissions, which remain confidential.
He has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash and is currently held on a $35,000 bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
