She was admitted to Marmara University Hospital in Istanbul, where she became increasingly unwell and was declared dead on April 29, just a day after her hospitalization. Initial suspicions led authorities to consider the possibility of poisoning, and her husband, Luke Martin, was temporarily barred from seeing her body. He was eventually allowed a final visit after pleading with hospital staff.

The situation became even more distressing when it was reported that Martin’s heart was missing from her chest during the autopsy. These revelations have prompted an official investigation and brought intense scrutiny upon the hospital involved.

In response to public outcry and media reports, the Turkish Health Ministry issued a statement confirming that Martin died from cardiac arrest linked to multiple organ failure. They stated she was categorized as a forensic case, and only a preliminary, non-invasive autopsy was performed, which failed to determine a precise cause of death.
