Fatal Fergus Falls DUI crash death of Blake Unger – Obituary

Eighteen-year-old Blake Unger lost his life in a suspected drunk driving crash late Monday night in Fergus Falls, located in Minnesota’s lakes region.

 

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched around 10:45 p.m. to the scene near the intersection of 370th Street and 640th Avenue. When deputies arrived, they discovered a pickup truck flipped onto its side in a roadside ditch.

 

Not far from the vehicle, they found the body of Blake Unger, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The suspected driver, also 18-year-old Izak Schermerhorn, was later located and taken into custody. Authorities say he is facing several charges, including criminal vehicular homicide, underage drinking and driving, and fourth-degree DWI. He is currently being held at the Otter Tail County Jail.

 

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
