Brett Daigle, a 48-year-old resident of Canyon City, Colorado, was fatally shot during a child custody exchange in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, on May 24, 2025. According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, the exchange became violent when Daigle’s former partner, 43-year-old Randolyn Allen, reportedly fired multiple shots at him inside a home on South Perkins Ferry Road. The shooting happened at approximately 2:30 p.m., and Daigle was declared dead at the scene.

Allen has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Officials have not released any information regarding the motive behind the shooting, and the investigation remains active.
