Fatal Iberia Parish crash death of Donald P. Gremillion – Obituary

Donald P. Gremillion, 69, of Abbeville, lost his life in a deadly collision in Iberia Parish. The tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, May 27, around 5 p.m. Deputies from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the intersection of Rip Van Winkle Road and Louisiana Highway 675, where a two-vehicle crash took place.

According to initial findings, a 2012 Nissan Cube, driven by Gremillion, was heading east on Rip Van Winkle Road but failed to stop at a stop sign for reasons still unknown. The Nissan was struck by a 2020 Ford F-150 traveling south on LA Highway 675. Alongside Donald Gremillion was passenger Gerrilynn Gremillion, also 69 and from Abbeville; both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Ford’s occupants escaped without injury.

Investigators collected toxicology samples from the Nissan’s driver to aid in the ongoing investigation. The driver of the Ford F-150 underwent a breathalyzer test, which returned negative results. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
