Felipe Angel Ramirez, 42, was identified as the suspect involved in a deadly DUI crash in Madera County that claimed two lives. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Tuesday on Highway 41, just south of Coarsegold. According to the California Highway Patrol, Ramirez was driving a white utility truck at a high speed and lost control while navigating a curve.
To avoid Ramirez’s truck near Van Teri Road, a black SUV swerved, but the truck clipped the SUV before crashing head-on into a Ford Bronco. Both the Bronco and Ramirez’s truck plunged down a ravine in the aftermath of the collision. Tragically, the man and woman inside the Bronco died at the scene.
Ramirez suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. He now faces DUI charges related to the crash. Authorities are emphasizing the importance of obeying speed limits on winding roads and warn against driving under the influence to prevent similar tragedies. The investigation is ongoing.
