Sixteen-year-old Jamariyee Dixon died from gunshot injuries he sustained during a triple shooting on May 23, 2025, in north Charlotte. Police confirmed his death on May 27. The shooting took place around 5:30 p.m. on Stroud Park Court, where three individuals were wounded.

According to investigators, one of the victims arrived at the hospital on their own with an ankle injury, while the other two, including Dixon, were transported by Medic. Video evidence later led detectives to identify 20-year-old Marion McKnight as the suspect.

Footage reportedly shows McKnight drawing a firearm and opening fire on a group of individuals. He was arrested and booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail early Saturday morning. Authorities charged him with one count of murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

McKnight made his first court appearance on Wednesday and was appointed a public defender. He remains in custody without bond on the murder charge, with a $1 million bond set for the attempted murder charges.

At this time, police say they are not searching for any additional suspects, and the motive behind the shooting has not yet been disclosed.
