Fatal Huntington Beach shooting death of Jose Nares – Obituary
Jose Nares, who would have turned 30 years old on Tuesday, lost his life last Friday following a violent encounter with a teenager armed with a flare gun, according to police reports. The incident took place near the corner of Florida Street and Utica Avenue, where Jose was involved in a physical struggle with the young suspect.
Jose’s brother, David Nares, recounted how he came home that Friday evening and heard what sounded like fireworks. Upon rushing outside, he saw his brother struggling with the teen, who then fled the scene. David immediately called for paramedics and tried to assist his brother.
Jose was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead that same night. Authorities quickly cordoned off the neighborhood to investigate the scene and arrested a teenager between the ages of 14 and 18, who is now charged with murder. The flare gun used in the attack was also recovered by police.
Family members expressed their heartbreak and shock, describing Jose as a kind and gentle person who was not expected to face such a tragic end. They gathered at the location where he was killed to mark what would have been his birthday, remembering him with sorrow and love.
The teenager accused of killing Jose Nares has been placed in juvenile detention as the case moves forward.
