Fatal South Los Angeles shooting death of Kevin Ball – Obituary

Kevin Ball, 48, was one of two men fatally shot during a violent incident that unfolded on the evening of May 24 in South Los Angeles. Authorities responded to the shooting at approximately 6:24 p.m. near the intersection of Florence and Dalton Avenues.

 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were declared dead on site. Footage from the scene captured two white canopies positioned in an alley, indicating the locations of the victims.

 

According to law enforcement, two suspects were seen firing multiple rounds into a crowd gathered in the alley before fleeing. LAPD officers quickly set up a perimeter and launched a coordinated search involving both ground units and aerial support. One suspect was apprehended shortly after the shooting, while the second suspect barricaded inside a nearby location before being arrested during a follow-up sweep.

 

Officials believe the shooting was gang-related. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has formally identified one of the deceased as Kevin Ball.

 

The LAPD is asking anyone with additional information about the case to reach out to the 77th Street Division or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
